Almost every stylist who runs behind thinks the same thing: I just need to get faster. I need to build my skills. I need to learn how to double book.
And while skill level plays a role, the real reason most stylists run behind has nothing to do with speed. It is distraction, a lack of preparation, the break room wormhole and the color processing time that somehow turns into 40 minutes of scrolling without anyone noticing.
Here is what works to maximize speed and efficiency.
Arrive 15 Minutes Early. Every Single Day.
This is not optional. If your first client is at 9:00, you are there at 8:45. Not 9:00. Not 8:58. 8:45.
If you start your day running behind, your whole day is off. There is no catching up. You are just in a cluster from the first client to the last. But if you have 15 minutes to get settled, set up, and mentally ready, the whole day shifts.
This is the single most impactful thing you can do.
